"lighten your heart & lift your spirit."
Day 1 Depart Huntsville this morning and travel today to Asheville, North
Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Check into your hotel and relax a bit
before departing for Black Mountain where you’ll enjoy the Southern tradition of
families and friends enjoying heaping servings of homemade specialties at Red
Rocker Inn’s candle-lit tables nestled on our garden porch or in a lovely dining
room. Meal: Dinner
Day 2 You’ll enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast each morning at your hotel.
Spend today at Biltmore Estate. George
Vanderbilt created Biltmore Estate in
North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains more than a century ago as a retreat for
family and friends; a place to rediscover gracious hospitality and revel in
nature’s beauty. His vision holds true today. Explore Biltmore House, a
magnificent 250-room chateau filled with priceless art and antiques. Stroll
through century-old gardens designed by America’s first landscape architect.
Taste the chefs’ creations using estate-raised foods. Enjoy 8,000 acres of
forests, farmlands, and rivers. Discover Biltmore Estate—named a national wonder
and one of America’s top destinations by National Geographic Traveler. There
will be time for a brief rest and dinner on your own before departing for Thomas
Wolfe Auditorium for the first of three Cavalcade of Comedy shows. Cavalcade
performers include Jeanne Robertson, LaDonna Gatlin, The Penny Loafers, Chiz
Rider, Mike Snider and others. You’ll enjoy these shows of wholesome
entertainment and good, clean comedy. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3 This morning brings another Cavalcade show. Enjoy downtown Asheville after
lunch at a favorite local restaurant. Visit specialty shops downtown. T.S.
Morrison & Co. has been a household name in Asheville for 112 years. The
Morrisons sold feed, seed, tools and other hardware to four generations of local
farmers before the store left their family in 1980. Since then, T.S. Morrison
has evolved into a 6,000 square-foot, old-timey general gift store that's home
to products from over 700 vendors. Mast General Store is a downtown emporium
that has been restored to its 1940s heyday featuring fixtures from the era and
other mementos from the past. In addition to traditional clothing for men and
women, hiking and camping gear, boots and casual footwear, Mast's signature
items can be found in the Mercantile Department, which is just jam-packed with
cast iron cookware, pottery, baskets and other crafts, old fashioned toys, and a
candy section featuring over 500 old-fashioned hard-to-find candies. Dinner is
on your own before the finale of this year’s Cavalcade of Comedy. Meals:
Breakfast, Lunch
Day 4 After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Huntsville with a stop for lunch
along the way. What experiences you’ve
had these last few days - laughter,
music, fine dining, America’s castle, a bit of shopping! And what wonderful
memories you’ve created! Meal: Breakfast
